The Egyptian Minister of Finance, Dr. Ahmed Kouchouk, visited the E-Commerce Tax Unit’s pavilion at the Cairo ICT for Middle East and Africa 2024 conference. This pivotal event showcased Egypt's advancements in digital and e-commerce tax systems, reflecting the country's commitment to modernizing its tax administration to align with global standards.
The E-Commerce Tax Unit, led by Mr. Ahmed Hegab, plays a crucial role in addressing tax challenges related to e-commerce and digital platforms. Through its initiatives, the unit ensures fair tax compliance among digital businesses, emphasizing transparency and inclusivity.
During the visit, Dr. Kouchouk was accompanied by Dr. Rasha Abdel Aal, the Head of the Egyptian Tax Authority, and Dr. El-Sayed Sakr, the Deputy Head. Their presence highlighted the importance of the E-Commerce Unit’s contributions to Egypt’s tax ecosystem. The delegation engaged with the team to discuss innovative strategies for integrating digital taxation and enhancing compliance among local and international e-commerce players.

The presence of top officials at the E-Commerce Unit pavilion reaffirms their commitment to promoting a robust and fair tax framework for the digital economy.

Ms. Abdelfattah is a Tax Officer and Coordinator at the Egyptian Tax Authority, specializing in international taxation with over a decade of experience. As a key member of the E-Commerce Tax Unit, she plays a pivotal role in coordinating with global digital platforms on tax compliance in Egypt’s digital economy. Sara also manages the E-Commerce Unit’s LinkedIn page and organizes events. She holds a Master’s degree in International Taxation and Digital Economy from Cairo University and is a certified Transfer Pricing Specialist. With additional certifications in international taxation, BEPS, digital transformation, and anti-money laundering from renowned institutions such as the OECD and Guardia di Finanza in Italy, Sara has been instrumental in drafting Egypt’s international tax agreements, further establishing her expertise in the field.
